‘Feel The Rhythm! Feel The Rhyme!’ Where Is The Cast Of ‘Cool Runnings’ Now?

If you grew up watching Cool Runnings, chances are you still remember the Jamaican bobsled team that proved you don’t need snow, fancy equipment or years of experience to chase an Olympic dream. Released in 1993, the beloved sports comedy brought plenty of laughs, unforgettable characters and an inspiring message about determination, teamwork and believing in yourself. So, where is the cast of Cool Runnings now?

Well, let’s catch you up to speed about the film first. Loosely based on the real-life Jamaican bobsled team’s journey to the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada, the Disney classic followed Derice Bannock, Sanka Coffie, Yul Brenner and Junior Bevil as they traded the tropical heat of Jamaica for the freezing temperatures of the bobsled track.

With the help of their unconventional coach, Irving “Irv” Blitzer, the unlikely underdogs faced skepticism, financial challenges and plenty of spills along the way.

More than three decades later, the film remains a fan favorite. But what happened to the actors who brought these memorable characters to life? From starring in hit television shows to releasing new music and taking on fresh film projects, here’s where the cast of Cool Runnings is today.

Leon Robinson as Derice Bannock

Leon Robinson, who played team captain Derice Bannock, continued building an impressive career in entertainment long after Cool Runnings crossed the finish line.

Robinson went on to appear in several memorable films, including the basketball drama Above the Rim, alongside Tupac Shakur, as well as The Five Heartbeats and The Temptations. His career has also included music, with Robinson performing alongside his band, Leon & The Peoples, which is preparing to release new music.

He has also continued working in film. In September, Robinson unveiled Wildcards, a gritty courtroom thriller exploring what happens on the road to justice. He stars as Greg Sims, an undefeated veteran defense attorney with a 20-year unblemished record.

From the bobsled track to the courtroom, Robinson clearly hasn’t slowed down.
