Darian DeVries is still out to land Indiana men’s basketball’s center of the future and one of the top prospects seems to be nearing a decision.
Darius Wabbington, a 5-star in the class of 2027 who took an official visit to Bloomington earlier in September, has since completed visits to Arizona and Illinois later on with his other visits having been cancelled. It looks like it’ll likely be the Hoosiers against the Wildcats and Fighting Illini for the chance to land him.
That’s a tall order. Arizona and Illinois were in this past season’s Final Four and both Tommy Lloyd and Brad Underwood have done great work with big men in the past while DeVries is looking to prove he can do similar work this season.
Getting him on campus at all is big, but this would be a seismic recruiting win if Indiana’s staff can pull it off.
