“Real Housewives of Potomac” star Karen Huger is in the middle of a glamor scandal after sharing new photos online.
The self-proclaimed “Grande Dame” often appears to walk into any room or setting confidently among the other ladies on “RHOP.”
Huger shared a new post that seemed like a simple celebration of her red-carpet return.

Huger appeared confident as she posed in an elegant white gown in new photos uploaded to her Instagram page.
Her honey-blond hair fell around her shoulders, while crystal embellishments added even more sparkle. But fans noticed something was off.
Shortly after, the original image was uncovered, placing both versions side by side as fans accused Huger of erasing more than a few signs of aging.
The images of the 63-year-old reality star were taken from her attendance at the NBCUniversal Pre-Emmy Party at West Hollywood’s Sunset Tower Hotel on Sept. 12.
Huger wore a fitted, long-sleeved dress. Afterward, she shared the polished picture on Instagram. But something happened … people found the actual flick.
Photographer Mark Van Holden took the original press-line image for NBC, which Getty Images distributed. It showed more natural texture beneath Huger’s eyes.
But viewers noticed her Instagram photos were much brighter, softer, and noticeably smoother when they zoomed in.
“Now Karen….” one person wrote. Another laughed, “She just smoothed it out a little lmao.”
The discourse was mixed. Some viewers treated light retouching seriously. Others wondered why a woman in her 60s was expected to have youthful skin.
Plenty of fans defended Huger, noting that she looks good for a woman her age. But the sentiment was clear. Aging is not a scandal, even if social media sometimes treats crow’s feet like criminal evidence.
“Lighting was terrible on the original. Nothing wrong with a little brightening,” one supporter argued. Another wrote, “She didn’t like the crows feet under her eyes. Valid edit.”
One person offered a fuller defense: “Oh ok…. lol But also, I mean ….Karen is at an elderly age. The real pic is fine too. Y’all be wanting old women in entertainment to still look like 40 something year olds and I’m not understanding. Do [y’all] not expect their skin to sag and get wrinkly? Is that forbidden now?”
One viewer dragged Huger’s longtime frenemies into the debate, writing, “It’s not even bad. She looks her age and good. Reality TV ladies love editing and lightening [their] pics.”
This was not Huger’s first trip to the Photoshop courthouse.
During a 2024 discussion on Reddit about one of her photo shoots, fans questioned her unusually long-looking legs and altered proportions. Others argued that her face appeared heavily filtered.
Still, Karen has spent years proving she can dish out appearance-based shade with the best of them. Fellow “RHO” star Gizelle Bryant once compared an etiquette plaque’s value to the price of Huger’s wigs.
Karen responded by suggesting Bryant’s life was worth the same bargain-basement amount. But Huger is hardly the only Housewife accused of giving reality a digital renovation.
In June, former “RHOP” star Mia Thornton faced harsher criticism after readers on Y! Entertainment alleged she placed her face onto model Sophie O’Neill’s body. O’Neill called the alleged edit sad and asked Thornton to remove it.
“RHOA” alum Kenya Moore also encountered filter and AI speculation after sharing glamorous pictures from her Miss USA hosting comeback. Some fans claimed the former beauty queen looked unrecognizable. Others shared video footage that they believed better reflected her natural appearance.
Compared with those controversies, Karen’s alleged smoothing was tame.
The original photograph already showed an elegant woman confidently working the carpet that night — she didn’t need to erase a single line to look beautiful.
Huger is stepping back into the spotlight after serving six months in jail. She left the Montgomery County Detention Center on Sept. 2, 2025, after serving time for a DUI-related crash.
A jury convicted her of driving under the influence and negligent driving after she crashed her Maserati in Potomac, Maryland, in March 2024. Since her release, Huger has opened up about her time behind bars, reunited with her family, and returned to the Bravo spotlight.
She also made her first public appearance at BravoCon in November 2025. Her post-jail return was documented on “RHOP” Season 10, where she addressed her addiction and the personal changes she hopes to make.
Huger will reveal shocking news for Season 11: she has been living separately from her husband of nearly 30 years, Ray Huger.
