Karen Huger and her husband Ray are going through it this season on The Real Housewives Of Potomac, and while they’re still legally married, the housewife revealed on Sunday’s Season 11 premiere (Oct. 11) that she and the venture capitalist were no longer together and living “separately.” If you were wondering where things currently stand between them, Karen recently opened up about her rocky marriage on Way Up With Angela Yee.
Karen Huger opened up about her rocky marriage on Way Up With Angela Yee.
Huger, 63, opened up about the status of her relationship with Ray during an interview on Way Up With Angela Yee, published Oct. 12. The Real Housewives of Potomac star revealed that she wasn’t sure whether Ray was ready to be with her now that she has healed and is “clear” following her 2025 DUI. Her comments came after Yee asked the Grande Dame to share her thoughts on Ray’s eyebrow-raising remark in the RHOP Season 11 trailer, where he suggested that “non-sober Karen might’ve been more fun.”
At the 1:42 mark, Karen told Yee the remark was downright “painful,” but the tough comment was something she needed to hear.
“All I can say is watch again. I’m going to share everything. It was very painful. Twenty-nine years married, but Rey has a right to his opinion,” Karen continued. “Everyone else had an opinion about what happened, what I did and being held accountable for it. And I’ve paid and answered for it, but I still had to have the real conversation with Rey. And so, it was disappointing that he felt that way, but he has a right to his opinion. I want to hear it.”
During her Way Up With Angela Yee appearance, Karen said she particularly wanted to hear the truth because, sometimes, women can have a hard time listening to a man’s perspective. She felt that, after everything she had been through, it was better to face the truth than simply try to protect herself from it. She looked at it this way: Andy Cohen had an opinion, her children were able to voice their concerns, but Ray never spoke about the DUI incident that landed her in jail for six months last year.
“So, let’s give him an opportunity to speak. Now, do I agree with what he’s saying? No,” she added. Do I like what he said? No. And so, what’s going to happen is you’ll see that play out this season. How I really, really feel about this,” the star said, raising her hand to show that she wasn’t wearing her wedding finger. “I decided to run to me.”
Karen Huger revealed she and Ray had “Grown Apart” on Sunday’s #RHOP premiere.
On Sunday’s Season 11 premiere of RHOP, Karen revealed that her marriage to Ray had reached a difficult point, admitting that the couple had “grown apart.” She made the announcement about their separate living arrangements after several castmates noticed that she had been without her wedding ring for at least a month.
Karen suggested that the strain in her marriage intensified after she was released from jail in September 2025 following her DUI conviction. In an Episode 1 confessional, she speculated, “I think he’s angry because he has a new wife,” explaining that her priority had become “taking care of myself and getting well.”
Later in the episode, Karen acknowledged that she and Ray were “struggling.” The tension between the couple became apparent when she expressed frustration over Ray quickly leaving their home instead of taking the time to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea with her.
As of 2026, Karen and Ray Huger have been together for approximately 32 years. They said “I do” in 1996, according to Bravo. Notably, Karen revealed to Andy Cohen during Sunday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live that she and Ray were “still working on” their marriage and hadn’t given up hope just yet.
Ray claimed Karen was “different” after she came home from jail last year.
Following her return home from prison, Karen previously spoke with Andy Cohen about what it was like to continue her relationship with Ray while incarcerated. During a January interview, she described “dating” Ray “through the glass” during the six months she spent behind bars and expressed uncertainty about their future as a couple.
She revealed that she had become a “stranger” to her husband following rehab and her commitment to change for the better after incarceration.
“Ray said that if, after I got the monkey off my back, and we decided not to be together, he could let me go. He wouldn’t want to let me go, but if, for some reason, we find out that we’ve done the best we could on this course, he would let me go,” she added at the time.
Meanwhile, Ray told Andy Cohen that he was “really happy” to have Karen back home, before adding, “She’s a little bit different, though — but good.”
