Anytime Donald Trump invites the cameras into the Oval Office, cameramen catch the unexpected.
But one moment is starting to become part of the president’s routine. This week, he introduced a new way for Americans to earn money by reporting fraud.
Trump sat front and center behind the Resolute Desk, flanked by his team who was about to walk away with a government check.

But once the president finished his part and handed the floor to everyone else, viewers noticed he clocked out.
The event marked the launch of the Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program, or WHIP. The $25 million fund rewards people whose tips lead to a fraud conviction or a significant federal enforcement action, according to The Hill.
Tips go through fraud.gov, and the Justice Department will run the program. Officials capped payouts at $30,000, but Trump promised a 1% commission and said reporters could qualify.
Trump also made clear who would control the money.
“I will be the arbitrator of all these decisions,” Trump said, according to The Associated Press.
Meanwhile, footage from the event shows his eyes sliding shut again and again as Vice President JD Vance spoke beside him.
Trump’s chin dipped toward his chest as Vance explained that the whole idea started as a conversation with two men.
Vance, who chairs the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud that Trump created in March, framed it as an invitation. “If you want to help us stop it, you get to share in the rewards,” he said.
Things didn’t look much livelier when Dr. Mehmet Oz took his turn.
In a clip posted by influencer Aaron Rupar, the president sits slumped in his chair, with his eyes heavy. He briefly turns toward Oz at one point, then his lids drop again.
The former daytime TV doctor now leads the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. He used the moment to announce another $1.2 billion delay in California Medicaid payments for personal care services.
Viewers online noticed the nation’s top health-coverage official speaking as Trump struggled to stay alert.
Some suggested the president simply needed more attention. “They aren’t praising him enough, he’s bored,” one person wrote. Another wasn’t sure Trump was the only one fading, joking, “To be fair, JD puts me to sleep, too.”
Eagle-eyed users who looked closer wondered, “What is that lump on the side of his face?”
Another pointed out, “There a new red lump on his cheek along his jawline.”
The drowsy optics in Tuesday’s clips were also the latest in a string of moments keeping questions about Trump’s stamina in the headlines.
Just last Thursday, Trump told a Rose Garden luncheon he has “some very severe problems,” then insisted he was “just having fun.”
On Oct. 7, cameras caught him slumped with his eyes closed during an Oval Office ceremony for his Trump Accounts program, where some viewers thought Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent nudged him awake. A closer look didn’t appear to show any contact.
That came just five days after the president told reporters he never gets tired.
“If I got tired, it would be a big story,” he said. The White House has brushed off similar images before, once insisting he was merely “blinking.”
The latest footage lands two weeks before the Nov. 3 midterms, with Trump’s approval sitting at a record-low 31 percent in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll, as The Hill noted.
For a man who spent years branding his predecessor “Sleepy Joe,” the message on Tuesday was clear: He wants Americans to keep their eyes open for fraud. Keeping his own open proved to be the harder job.
